Avalanches on Mars

This amazing photo shows a rock and ice avalanche on the surface of Mars. It is part of an image that captures 4 such events. The cliff is about 700 m high and the reflective white material is Carbon Dioxide frost.

Black Hole Forms Stars At Galactic Centre

This Video (taken using the Hubble Space Telescope) shows the orbits of stars around the super massive black hole at the centre of our galaxy. It is thought that the black hole itself may be responsible for the formation of these stars.

This is always Humbling. Our galaxy alone contains an estimated 200 - 400 billion stars.

Orange Sun Oozing

This is a cool video of some sun spots. You can also see the solar convection cells. It is the work of Bruno Sánchez-Andrade Nuño. I came across it on the Astronomy Picture Of The Day site.
